Australian states and territories\, and certain industry bodies\, have stringent regulations regarding the use of agricultural chemicals. Our chemical course can help you meet the chemical training requirements to prepare and apply chemicals to control pest weeds and diseases\, and transport and store chemicals. This course is known by different names depending on your state. It is commonly referred to as Chemical User\, Agricultural Chemicals Distribution Control (ACDC)\, Agricultural Chemical User Permit (ACUP)\, Chemical Handling\, or AgVet (Farm) training. The unit applies to individuals who work under broad direction and take responsibility for their own work. They use discretion and judgement in the selection\, allocation and use of available resources and for solving problems. Licensing\, legislative\, regulatory or certification requirements may apply to this unit. Candidates should confirm the regulatory requirements that apply in their relevant State or Territory before undertaking this unit. This unit may be deemed to have a time limit when used as part of an accreditation or licence process. AHCCHM307 Prepare and apply chemicals to control pest weeds and diseases – This unit of competency describes the skills and knowledge required to prepare and apply chemicals for the control of pests\, weeds and diseases\, using general application equipment. This unit applies to individuals who work under broad direction and take responsibility for their own work. They use discretion and judgement in the selection\, allocation and use of available resources and for solving problems. Licensing\, legislative\, regulatory or certification requirements may apply to this unit. Candidates should confirm the regulatory requirements that apply in their relevant State or Territory before undertaking this unit. This unit may be deemed to have a time limit when used as part of an accreditation or licence process. \n				\n							\n					\n												\n															\n								\n													\n												Entry Requirements\n					\n\n					This course is suitable for persons currently employed in industry with a requirement to obtain a Statement of Attainment in transporting and storing chemicals and in preparing and applying chemicals to treat pests\, weeds and disease. Students are assumed to have pre-existing knowledge of chemicals. Students will have prepared and applied chemicals in the past either in a domestic environment or in the workplace. Students will also typically have completed their workplace orientation and induction training and be familiar with foundation concepts relating to workplace health and safety including identifying hazards in the workplace\, assessing the risks and putting in place measures to control those risks. They will also be used to following chemical labels and Safety Data Sheets and wearing personal protective equipment. Many of the participants will have also previously undergone the same or equivalent training. If an individual does not meet these requirements they may be deemed ineligible for short course delivery. While there are no pre-requisites for this course\, you will need to have sufficient English language skills to complete the competency based chemical training. You will also be required to undertake practical training and assessments which will entail preparing and using a handheld sprayer which weighs 6.5kg at full capacity. \n				\n							\n					\n												\n															\n								\n													\n												Duration\n					\n\n					Our Chemical course is a one-day course or a two-day course. The hours are generally 8:00am to 5:00pm\, but students should refer to their specific course listing on the homepage of the Duff Consulting website for specific times and venues as this can sometimes differ to meet client needs. \n				\n							\n					\n												\n															\n								\n													\n												Physical Requirements – what to wear on the day\n					\n\n					ALL ATTENDEES ARE REQUIRED TO WEAR WORK-APPROPRIATE CLOTHING TO THE COURSE All participants must wear sun-safe clothing and closed-in footwear. PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) may be brought along to training. For those who do not own this equipment\, or do not wish to bring their own\, PPE items will be supplied. \n				\n							\n					\n												\n															\n								\n													\n												Physical Requirements – what to bring on the day\n					\n\n					Morning tea\, tea and coffee will be supplied. Participants are to provide their own lunch or purchase it on the day. The hours are generally 8:00am to 5:00pm\, but students should refer to their specific course listing on the homepage of the Duff Consulting website for specific times and venues as this can sometimes differ to meet client needs.  All resources required on the day will be supplied. Due to the Covid 19 pandemic it has become necessary to minimise where practicable\, face to face training.  To this end\, we also deliver a one-day virtual training day\, where participants can attend and interact with the trainer via the internet. Participants are then required to complete and forward their knowledge assessments and provide photographs and videos to demonstrate their practical competency. This work is expected to take a further day to complete.  \n				\n							\n					\n												\n															\n								\n													\n												Assessment Requirements\n					\n\n					A variety of assessment methods are utilised to ensure you develop the required skills and knowledge and to keep the course a practical\, hands-on-learning experience. These methods are: Theory QuestionsPractical Assessments delivered under workplace conditionsAll assessments are carried out in English. If you are unhappy about any assessment result\, then seeking a re-assessment is usually the first strategy.
