We offer this course in every state and territory in Australia and can add private courses for groups on demand anywhere\, anytime. Commonly referred to as ‘Chainsaw Level 3’. To find our closest public course\, check out the training calendar on our home page: https://www.duffconsulting.com.au/ 								\n				\n				\n				\n							\n			\n							\n				General Information				\n						\n		\n						\n				\n				\n				\n									Our Fell Trees (Intermediate) training course covers the unit of competency FWPCOT3350 Fell trees manually (intermediate) and is designed for anyone who cuts down complex or large trees with a chainsaw; whether in the workplace\, as a volunteer\, or at home. Trainees will learn intermediate tree felling techniques using a chainsaw\, focusing on complex trees – e.g.: trees wider than the bar of a chainsaw\, trees on a significant lean\, trees with a serious defect. This course will also cover environmental assessments\, WHS safe work best practice\, risk assessment\, PPE use\, and much\, much more. This course is suitable for initial and/or refresher training.  This course adheres to the Australian Standards pertaining to safe use of chainsaws and to both National and State safe work legislation. This unit of competency describes the outcomes required to assess\, plan and safely carry out manual tree-felling operations using a chainsaw. This unit covers the felling procedures for trees with a level of complexity that requires significant tree assessment and practical felling skills. Persons competent in this unit should be able to effectively fell most trees except exceptionally large trees\, and/or those with significant defects and/or characteristics that cause excessive complexity. We require our students to demonstrate either previous tree felling training\, or significant experience in felling trees before taking part in this course. This unit covers the felling procedures for trees with a level of complexity that requires significant tree assessment and practical felling skills. Persons competent in this unit should be able to effectively fell most trees except very large trees\, and/or those with significant defects and/or characteristics that cause excessive complexity. It applies to trees that have a diameter greater than the bar length of the chainsaw. Trees typical to the scope of this unit may include the following characteristics: lean and weight distribution\, which can be assessed and readily adapted to falling direction with the use of wedges and/or control with hinge-woodvarious dimensions relative to local forest size distributionlimited visible damage or defectspecies prone to free splitting and adverse reactions during fellingsingle or multi-stemsdiameter of tree greater than chainsaw bar lengthgrown on terrain and slope that can add complexity to the operationThe unit applies to a non-production environment\, including forest\, rural and community environments. Licensing\, legislative\, regulatory\, or certification requirements apply to this unit in some states & territories at the time of publication\, and may differ according to jurisdiction \n				\n							\n					\n												\n															\n								\n													\n												Entry Requirements\n					\n\n					This course is suitable for persons currently employed in industry with a requirement to obtain a Statement of Attainment that covers felling intermediate level trees. Duff Consulting requires students undertaking this course to have previously completed chainsaw & fell trees manually (basic) accreditation. Students are assumed to have pre-existing knowledge in maintaining and operating chainsaws and falling trees. Students will also typically have completed their workplace orientation and induction training and be familiar with foundation concepts relating to work health and safety including identifying hazards in the workplace\, using PPE\, and completing safe work method statements. If an individual does not meet these requirements they may be deemed ineligible for short course delivery. While there are no pre-requisites for this course\, you will need to have sufficient English language skills to complete the competency-based chainsaw training. You will also be required to undertake practical training and assessments which will entail starting a chainsaw\, holding\, and cutting with a chainsaw. All participants must be aged 16 years or above on the day of the course. \n				\n							\n					\n												\n															\n								\n													\n												Duration\n					\n\n					Our Fall Trees Manually (Intermediate) course is a one-day course. The hours are generally 8:00am to 5:00pm\, but students should refer to their specific course listing on the homepage of the Duff Consulting website for specific times and venues as this can sometimes differ to meet client needs. \n				\n							\n					\n												\n															\n								\n													\n												Physical Requirements – what to wear on the day\n					\n\n					ALL ATTENDEES ARE REQUIRED TO WEAR WORK-APPROPRIATE CLOTHING AND STEEL-CAP BOOTS TO THE COURSE PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) and chainsaws may be brought along to training. These methods are: Theory QuestionsPractical Assessments delivered under workplace conditionsAll assessments are carried out in English. You must be physically capable of starting\, holding and using a chainsaw for sustained periods of time in the practical component of the course. If you are unhappy about any assessment result\, then seeking a re-assessment is usually the first strategy.
